"I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
My mission president shared to us about.. "Charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever, and whoso is found possessed it at the last day, it shall be well with him." -Moroni 7:47, Ether 12:34. Moroni wrote these profound statements about this attribute of Christ as he was completing his ministry on earth. As I have studied and pondered about charity, I have learned that it is much more than kindly deeds and acts, but it is an attitude, a state of heart and mind that guides your behavior. According to the scriptures it follows, but seems to be more important than even faith and hope as it stated in 1 Corinthians 13:13
Charity is to become the basis of all of our human relationships as we transform into beings that all of God's children, willing to sacrifice them. I sometimes wonder if that was what Jesus was trying to teach Peter in John 21:15-17 when he asked him three times if he loved him. He told Peter to "feed my sheep" in effect teaching him the primary elements of the pure love of Christ", to serve others.

Elder Marvin J. Ashton a modern day Apostles stated: "Charity is perhaps in many ways a misunderstood word. We often equate charity with visiting the sick, taking foods to those in need, or sharing our resources with those who are less fortunate. But really true charity is much more. Real charity is not something you give away, it is something you acquire and make a part of yourself. Perhaps the real charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don't judge, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someones's differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another's weaknesses and being willing to forgive who has hurt us.."
And it was a great blessing to acquire such wonderful attribute of Christ during my mission to be in the service of my fellowmen with my helping hands.
GARDENING IN A LESS ACTIVE MEMBER'S HOUSE
CLEANING A SCHOOL BEFORE THE YEAR STARTS
CLEANING THE CHAPEL WITH OUR INVESTIGATOR
GIVING AWAY FLIERS FOR THE CHURCH'S HEALTH CAMPAIGN
CLEANING A DORMITORY
HELPING IN A CONSTRUCTION SITE
AND YEP.. IT INCLUDES GATHERING COW'S DRIED POOF FOR PERTILIZER
May we all learn to acquire this wonderful trait and increase in our individual charity. Let us all as disciples love, defend and rescue each other, now and forever.
